Karen Stone studied Fine Art at Birmingham School of Art, Birmingham City University and Life Drawing at The Slade School of Art, University College London. In 2007 her work was selected for the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists New Horizons exhibition and since then she has also exhibited in Pembrokeshire, Stroud and most recently the Mall Galleries London.
“My work progressively researches and utilises the process of drawing, painting & printmaking to function as a language. As a writer would use vocabulary and a composer would use musical score I use elements and space to “speak” about the world around us. The intention is to encourage a dialogue, without being dictatorial; to instigate a journey, based on associated thought, which does not have to be logical or resolved.”
Karen works part time for the Heart of Worcester College, teaching Art in the Community, Watercolour & Sketching and Life Drawing. She is currently also a visiting tutor at Birmingham City University as part of the STEAM initiative.
